Beloved (“we,” “us”) is built around a simple promise: a private space for two people. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Beloved, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account: your name, email address, and a hashed password.
• Your status & preferences: openness, moods, vibe, game modes, and short notes you choose to share with your partner.
• Messages: the love notes (“nudges”) you send to your paired partner.

Information collected automatically

• Push tokens: a device token (via Expo/Apple/Google) so we can deliver notifications, plus your language preference.
• Basic technical data needed to operate and secure the Service.

2. How we use your information

• To provide the Service — pairing you with your partner and syncing your status and messages between you two.
• To verify your email and secure your account.
• To send notifications you’ve enabled (e.g. when your partner opens up or sends a note).
• To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.

Beloved does not show third-party ads. We don’t include advertising or tracking SDKs, we don’t collect an advertising identifier, we don’t sell your personal information, and we never use your content for advertising.

3. How information is shared

• With your partner: the status and messages you choose to share are visible to the one partner you pair with — that’s the point of the app.
• Service providers: we use trusted vendors to run the Service (e.g. database hosting, email delivery for verification codes, and push-notification delivery). They process data only on our behalf.
• Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users or the Service.

4. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your account and associated personal content, except where we must retain limited information to comply with legal obligations.

5. Security

Passwords are stored hashed, and email verification codes are stored hashed with short expiries. Private photos are end-to-end encrypted — locked on your device so only you and your partner can open them. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

6. Your choices & rights

• Access & update: view and edit your profile in the app.
• Delete: delete your account at any time from within the app, which removes your data as described above.
• Notifications: turn push notifications on or off in your device settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, or deletion). Contact us to exercise them.

7. Children

Beloved is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. International users

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
